”Zagreb Boxing Explosion” – Luka Pupek new WBC Mediterranean champion!

Croatia’s youngest professional boxer, Luka Pupek has won against over ten years older French Jean Michel Hamilcaro in 2nd minute and 40th second of the 7th round with technical knock out, and won WBC Mediterranean champion title.

Despite his youth, our boxer has shown huge courage and enthusiasm. In the first four rounds, Luka has dominated the fight and in the 5th and 6th round he played tactically giving Hamilcaro slight advantage only to knock out his opponent from France at the end of the 7th round. Both Pupek and Hamilcaro have fought as challenger because the WBC Mediterranean title was without it's champion.

Before this match there was a fight between Mirzet Barjaktarević, international champion of Croatia and Dutchman Farouk Dakou, former champion of Africa in which Croatian representative won in category up to 76 kilos. There was also a fight between Nevenka Mikulić from Croatia and former world champion Nina Stojanović form Serbia in which Nina took the victory in category up to 51 kilos.
Zagreb Boxing Explosion was held as a part of Jose Sulaiman & Muhammad Ali Memorial, which is the first time that it's being held outside the borders of Mexico or USA. Another special thing about this match is that this is the first time in Croatia that a boxing match was held in a hotel, which is a normal thing for exclusive boxing events around the world.

During the upcoming months Luka will fight again to defend his title, and right after the magnificent victory he said: „I am thrilled that at only 18 years of age I won against more experienced and very respectable opponent. I am looking forward to the rematch and i hope to continue my streak of victories with no defeat.“
