Zagreb Association of Blind Persons – humanitarian action

Zagreb Association of Blind Persons operates in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County since 1947. Currently, they care for 1,190 members, of which more than 50% are over 65 years.

Activities that they provide are related to the field of training for an independent life, the realization of rights and privileges, the design of free time, assistance in carrying out daily duties. In particular, they are engaged in employment of unemployed members.

For this purpose, in 2014 they created a project proposal in which the unemployed members of the association would work on the production of soap. The "Soaps with  dots – social entrepreneurship blind and visually impaired" was approved in late 2015 by the City Office for Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship. Association was offered space in the complex of the former factory Zagrepčanka, whose roof is completely devastated, and they need financial assistance for the reconstruction of the roof.

Also, the Association launched a campaign to help in the purchase of Braille printers, which is necessary for the maintenance of education and in everyday business communication, and will ensure the continuous maintenance activities of the association. Price of Braille printer is 48,355.00 kuna, and organization reminds us that even the small amounts are valuable for achieving the vision of the Association of the Blind of Zagreb, which is to create a society in which no one is forgotten and abandoned.
