„Zagreb Boxing Explosion“ – fight for the Mediterranean title

On the press conference ZAGREB BOXING EXPLOSION, humanitarian-sports event, was announced that Zagreb will be the host of this unseen sport event, in honour of Jose Sulaiman and Muhammad Ali and with regard to 100 years of Islam in Croatia. 20 athletes from more than 15 countries will participate at this event.

„This is an extaordinary, quality event which Zagreb will be hosting. No matter how objective we are, we hope that Pupek will make another step forward in his career and take the champion title“ said Milan Ćolić, Assistant Head of Sport and Youth in Zagreb.

Houcine Houichi, Vice-president of WBC and President of the African Boxing Union, under whose jurisdiction falls and Mediterranean area said: „This is the first time that Jose Suleiman and Muhammad Ali Memorial Match is being held outside of USA or Mexico, but this is not the first time for WBC in Croatia. In 2006 we held our world congress in Dubrovnik. I am very looking forward to the match between young and perspective boxer Pupek and boxer with great experience, Jean-Michel Hamilcaro.“

„I am extremely honored to be part of this manifestation and to have the opportunity to fight for the WBC Mediterranean title. Because of the injuries, I have been waiting for this for 2 years. I will give it my best to take the title to France and I have no doubts I will be successful. Pupek is young and I really respect him for having the courage to step in to the ring with me.“ said Jean-Michel Hamilcaro.

The youngest professional boxer in Croatia, Luka Pupek, said: „I think it's time for fresh blood. I fully respect my opponent but the title is staying in Croatia!“
After addressing the media there was a test weighting and photographing of the challenger with WBC belt.

In the Crystal Ballroom of the Westin hotel, on February 18th, this boxing tournament with humanitarian undertone will be held, and with the review program there will be a gala fundraising dinner.
