International Art Festival Marco Polo again on Korčula

“The key issue of our time is to achieve world peace”

The Institute of Marco Polo organizes this year's international art festival "Marco Polo – Silk Road – The Path of Dialogue", which will be held in Korčula from 23 to 30 August 2017 under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Ministry of Tourism. The Festival promotes the culture of the countries of the Silk Road, including China, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, India, South Korea, Iran, Indonesia, Bulgaria and Croatia. The organizer's wish is to spread understanding of the importance of the culture of dialogue and acceptance of diversity with the aim of educating, interacting and linking the countries of the Silk Road for their future intercultural cooperation.
 
This year's rich festival program offers interesting film productions, music and artwork from artists from countries sharing a common Silk Road, and their selection was made by each of the participating countries of this festival through its embassy in Croatia. In addition to projection of feature films, a roundtable and panel discussion will be held by 10 ambassadors of the Silk Road countries in the Republic of Croatia on the topic: "Silk Road yesterday – road of piece today", where experienced diplomats will articulate their own visions and approaches to the development of a global policy of achievement world peace and tolerance among peoples and cultures.
 
"The key issue of our time is to achieve world peace, dialogue and tolerance among all peoples and cultures, especially among those who lack the same deficiency. The achievement of this paradigm enables, above all, the point of encounter and such events where they represent and encounter pluralisms of identity, diversity, peculiarity and similarities of different peoples and nations. This festival therefore seeks to promote, support, build and ultimately present the peculiarities of art created on that silk road and doing that in the town of Korčula, which in the past has historically been marked as a mythical place and the starting point of the famous passenger of Marco Polo, and iz start on 23rd August. Again it becomes a meeting place of film, music and art together with diplomats from their countries, all with the aim of achieving only one goal – understanding the importance of the culture of dialogue and permeating the various as the basic precondition for achieving global peace, "said Igor Prižmić, director of the festival and director of the Marco Polo Institute.
